As the founder of Scarlet Oak Acupuncture, I consider myself a skilled acupuncturist and herbalist, as well as someone who is extremely motivated to help my patients optimize their health and well-being. I received my MSTOM (Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine) from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, California. I arrived at this medicine after experiencing my own health challenges. After working 10 fast paced years in international development and traveling extensively in sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East, I was left sick, tired and not sure how to start building myself back up. After a bout of typhoid and malaria, my body seemed unable to completely recover and every small illness I contracted afterward seemed to drag me down even more. Working in international development was my dream job; I had grown up dreaming of helping people while also seeing the world. But my health challenges forced me to look beyond development to what was next.

Stepping into the field of holistic medicine, more specifically Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), has been a life changing experience for me. I have healed my own body, while working with other people to begin healing theirs. Sharing my knowledge and helping my patients to regain their health is my new dream job.
